To have dinner or supper: Red Sea Star, Eliat, Israel

Filed under: Israel — notfortourists @ 4:14 pm

Red Sea Star
tel:08-634-7777
Eliat, Israel

This place is amazing!!!! In the middle of the red sea there is a restaurant, at the moment just this is the only underwater bar in the world.
This place is located 5 metres under the water and it is built in the form of a star. This is a paradise for the customers, who can see through the 62 windows that has the restaurant, beautiful marine animals.

To arrive there you have to cross a bridge of 70 meters long that join the coast of the Eliat city with the restaurant.

The floor has sand and its covered with a layer of epoxy. When you are walking is like if you are in the beach walking over humid sand. The chairs has jellyfish and octopus form.

To have an ice cream: Herrell’s Ice Cream, Cambridge

Filed under: Cambridge, MA — notfortourists @ 10:19 pm

Herrell's Ice Cream
15 Dunster St
Cambridge, MA 02138-5002
(617) 497-2179

Herrell's Ice Cream founder Steve Herrell is credited with launching the premium ice cream craze by being one of the first in the industry to crunch candies and other goodies into his frozen dessert recipes. This location of the franchise, popular with sugar-fiends of all flavors, features small tables and banquette or chair seating, and ice cream made on-premises.

Over the years, low-fat frozen yogurt, fruit sorbets and smoothies, malts and floats and other items have been added to the menu to complement Herrell's famous ice cream. More than 90 custom-made flavors cover everything from vanilla to jalapeno (seriously), though the rich chocolate pudding ice cream is hard to beat. That said, the trademark smoosh-ins–concoctions of candy, nuts or dried fruit mushed into the ice cream–are still the biggest draw. Herrell's famous hot fudge is now also sold by the jar.

To buy turtle and crab shaped bread: Boudin Sourdough, San Francisco

Filed under: San Francisco — notfortourists @ 4:21 am

Boudin Sourdough
Fisherman's Wharf
160 Jefferson Street
San Francisco, CA 94133

In this bakery you can have authentic French bread in the shape of a turtle or a crab, for instance.

There are two other things that drew my attention when I was there: the first one is its glass cabin which you could look through and the second one is the microphone for asking questions to the bakers inside.

They best selling product is the “Clam Chowder” or crab soup. This soup is served in a bowl made of bread with a top on it. The funny thing is that you can eat the bowl itself , which will remain crunchy, when you are finished with the soup. Nonetheless, I don’t think you are gonna have enough space for it in your belly… ;)

To eat a hot dog: Gray’s Papayas, New York

Filed under: New York City — notfortourists @ 4:15 am

Gray's Papayas
2090 Broadway, Corner 71st
New York NY
(212) 799-0243

If you travel to New York you cannot leave without tasting its mythical hot dogs. There are many carts in the street where you can obtain a hot dog by less than a dollar but I cannot confirm that the flavor is the best one. For that reason, I recommend the Gray's Papayas where you will find quickly by its showy yellow color in the facade and its lamps hung in the wall. You can taste the drink by papaya or any other natural juice. The combination is not bad: with more vitamins and healthful drink with something greasy, oily and hypercaloric.

To buy things with a retro design: Buckaroo’s Mercantile, Cambridge

To have a capuccino: Mike’s Pastry, Boston

Filed under: Boston — notfortourists @ 3:58 am

Mike's Pastry
300 Hanover St
Boston, MA 02113-1835
(617) 742-3050

Mike and Annette Mercogliano opened this pastry shop in 1943 to offer to their clients the most delicious pies of the Italian kitchen. In special canolis (cheese stuffed cake rolled wafers ricotta and cream).

Weekends are almost impossible to buy a pie because there is a great line that sometimes arrives until the street. Ice creams, mazapanes, biscotti, pies of rum… are other specialties that you will find in this pastry shop in the North End.

You do not forget to request a capuccino to accompany these candies. The North End is the best area to taste a good coffee.

To have a dinner: Busaba Eathai, Londres

Londres

That's incredible the new concept of restoration that the owner of this restaurant has obtained. When you arrive, you stand in the line and when there is a sit available  a waiter comes to take you to the table . The peculiar thing is that joint parties pull with other many people who you do not know since the restaurant consists of enormous square tables and sidewalks to seat.

The food is Thailander and the delicious truth, I recommend the spring rolls, the curries, Calamari to the Thailander style with ginger and grains of pepper, prawns wraped in breadcrumbs with sauce of chili and green handle.

The negative point is that they do not serve desserts. You are not scared when I say that there is to make tail since you do not have to wait for much short while, specially if you are a couple. Really, the best Thailander.

To have lunch or dinner: RNG Lounge, San Francisco

Filed under: San Francisco — notfortourists @ 3:42 am

RNG Lounge
631 Kearny Street
San Francisco, CA 94108
horario: 11 a.m – 9.30 pm
Tel (415) 982 78 77

This Chinese restaurant is located in the very middle of San Francisco’s finantial center and I can only qualify its cuisine as delicious. RNG Lounge has nothing to do with the typical Chinese restaurants we are used to in other countries which menu consists of three delices rice and lemon flavored chicken.

The first thing you think when you enter in the restaurant is you are the only person in the place. This is so because of the bar where they serve drinks at the entrance, but once you get downstairs you realize the restaurant has already been discovered by other people.

I do recommend you to have “Prawn with honey walnuts”. They wrap the prawns and accompany them with honey caramelized walnuts. It may seem an easy dish to prepare but, being honest, I have to say that is one of the most tasteful meals I have ever had.

To have supper: Cuchi Cuchi, Cambridge

Filed under: Cambridge, MA — notfortourists @ 4:23 pm

Cuchi Cuchi
795 Main Street,
Cambridge, MA 02139
Tel: 617.864.2929
Fax: 617.864.7997

At the moment at which an elegant dressed man opens to you the front door is as if you will be suddenly at another time. Two young ladies, like those of the photo, receive for take you until your table or invite you to have something in the bar. Glamour, pens, sensuality and an excellent decoration are some of the elements that identify this restaurant. In addition, the owner is Spanish, from Murcia. As much the decoration as the food tries to fuse cultures like Italian, Russian, Argentine, Japanese, Cuban, Greek or the French. For that reason, you come from where you come, there will always be something will remember you to your country. If it does not desire to you to eat or to have supper you can take a coctel or a wine in the bar.

A secret: Tuesdays from 7.30 pm  a tarotista it will read cards to you.

Las bodegas de Clavería

In an almost hidden place of the Valley of La Fueva is this small restaurant located in the ground floor of an old house. Rustic but cosy decoration.

Some years ago a mother and her son they were ventured to take this business with which they guarantee meals of first quality. This must to that they themselves crian the animals in a farm that stays all the public open who comes to the restaurant and where species of most peculiar can be seen: a fox, an ostrich, quails, muflones…

Homemade kitchen and of vanguard with exotic products. Some examples are the snails to llauna, stew of ox tail, guineana hen, ostrich, emú and horse.

The secret: for a short time time, in the floor at the top of the restaurant mini apartments for all those have been constructed that wish to enjoy vacations in contact the nature. Two of them are with an attic and have fireplace. The apartments are equipped with the necessary menaje of kitchen, refrigerator, microwaves, dryer of hair, heating, TV, sheets and blankets yet.
